Congratulations and welcome as a new member of the APIC Palmetto Chapter of International APIC! You have joined one of the finest APIC chapters dedicated to providing support, education and research to assist healthcare professionals like you in preventing and controlling infections in the people most deeply and personally affected by it - patients and healthcare workers.
As a member of APIC Palmetto you have joined over 140 members throughout the state of South Carolina. Our chapter, composed of 3 regions: Upstate, Midlands and the Low Country, is fortunate to have a diverse and interactive membership, intensely involved in the current events of infection prevention and control, and effectively influencing change in our state.
Chapter members will receive all the benefits of the International APIC membership, as well as a variety of benefits specific to only APIC Palmetto members:
- Mentoring program for new Infection Preventionists
- Chapter website with member contacts, a discussion board, news, resources and education (To register for our chapter Discussion and Information Board, please download the Word document

- Regional and statewide educational programs. Regional meetings occur throughout the year and you are welcome to attend any of these meetings. See the website for a breakdown of the regions, regional representatives and meeting information.
- Affiliation with other state organizations affecting infection prevention activities.
New infection preventionists may also take advantage of the national program called APIContacts. Volunteers are on hand to help you get acquainted with APIC and familiarize you with the resources supporting the world of Infection Prevention.
