CMS FY2012 Update: Proposed rule adds two new infection-related quality measures for FY 2014 and three infection-related quality measures to be added in FY 2015. The following message is from Beth Rhoton:
"As co-chair of LASIC (Legislative Affairs and Statewide Initiatives Committee of APIC-Palmetto), I forward the following information from APIC national office to increase membership awareness that CMS is proposing to add two new infection-related quality measures (CLIP and CAUTI) for FY 2014 and three new measures (MRSA bacteremia, C diff standardized infection rates and healthcare personnel influenza vaccination) for FY 2015. These measures are proposed for reporting by acute care facilities through NHSN and are to be published in the May 5 edition of The Federal Register.

Anyone wishing to send comments to CMS on these proposed measures, must do so no later than 5 p.m. EDT on June 20, 2011. Comments on this proposed regulation may be submitted electronically at http://www.regulations.gov. Please see additional information in the proposed rules documents found via the links below. (Of note, the FY 2012 IPPS is 1032 pages and the FY 2012 IRF IPPS is 276 pages.)"

State HAI Prevention Plan for SC

The South Carolina HAI Prevention Plan was finalized and approved on December 30, 2009. Thank you to Connie Steed, Paula Guild, and Beth Rhoton for representing APIC Palmetto in these planning meetings with DHEC and SCHA. Through their input and the input of our 2009 Chapter President, Nancy Lumley, and many of you, our voices were heard. The final document can be found HERE. (It's a 40 page pdf file.)
